Do you have sensitive skin or allergies to many commercially manufactured soaps? Looking for unique gift ideas for the holidays? We will learn the basic safety, ingredients, equipment and procedures to make handcrafted soap in your home! In class, we will discuss use of base oils, herbs, and essential oils as well as sources for many of the ingredients. We will create a unique batch of soap in class and you will get to take some home with you. Hand made soaps make great gifts for birthdays, baby showers, and especially for the holidays! Cost $36

Have you ever wanted to make a unique handcrafted soap with herbs, essential oils, oatmeal? A creation all your own or perfect for unique Christmass presents for friends and family! I am offering a private session where we will develop and create a batch of soap uniquely for you! We will start with a basic soap recipe and add essential oils, herbs, and other additives. We will make the soap together, then you'll leave it with me to remove from the mold and cut into individual bars. After 1 week, you can come pick the bars up and take them home to wrap as presents or use at your house! Or for an addtional fee, I am happy to label the soaps with a custom label for you, wrap the bars, and place into individual organza gift bags so your presents are ready for the holidays!
You will get a total of 15 bars of soap, each weighing around 4 ounces. The cost of each handcrafted bar of soap is less than $4 each!! These make truely unique gifts made by you! Learn the art of canning your own fruits and vegetables. We will discuss the differences in acid and low acid foods and the best method to preserve them both.
Canning is not just something your grandmother used to do. You will learn how to preserve fresh fruits and vegetables to enjoy throughout the year. You will know where your food came from and it will be prepared with no preservatives. Great for those with food allergies or sensitive to processed foods. Jams and jellies also make wonderful hand made presents for hostess gifts and the holidays! This course will teach you the basics of canning peaches including the equipment needed, how to prepare the fruit, the canning procedure, and a few tips to help along the way. You will get to take home a jar of fresh peaches that we canned in class. Cost $36

Learn how and why honey bees create wax. See examples of the beautiful honeycomb from a beehive. We will discuss some facts about wax production and discuss procedures of harvesting wax, filtering it, melting it down, and it's uses throughout history. We will go through the basic procedures for melting wax and candle making including molds, wick, etc. We will melt and pour some wax into a candle for you to take home as well as making a rolled beeswax candle. Beeswax candles burn clean and make great presents for hostess gifts, birthdays, and the holidays! Cost $36

Have you always wanted to bake a wonderful loaf of bread for that family get together?Or to enjoy with a hearty bowl of soup on a cold day? Baking a loaf of bread can seem a daunting task for those of us unfamiliar with the process. Some have had difficulty with breads that did not rise. I will "de-mistify" the process of breadmaking. We will discuss the basic ingredients and procedures and then mix a batch of bread, allow it to rise and bake it up into a beautiful loaf for you to taste. Cost $36
